TThroughout my adult life I did a lot of public speaking. I was a regular at the employment conference in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It grew over the years and at one point they had so many speakers that everyone only had 10 minutes to speak. I wanted more time, we all wanted more time. Some people used the opportunity to sell stuff, which gave me in idea. I started doing albums that were specifically for the event. This allowed me to put my talk on the album, and I could add whatever else to the album; songs, additional thoughts, and so on. This gave me the ability to sort of use the live 10 minutes to promote the album. It was a way of expanding my time without cutting into anyone else's time.
Depression to me is a timeless topic because everyone gets depressed. As I was thinking of steps to deal with depression, the actions started to seem like a dance, and the depression seemed like the music. So I named it "Depression And Learning To Dance", with the dance being how we cope with depression. The talk came out well, and so did the album.
